MetLife’s Head of Public Policy wins FSC Industry Excellence Award

MetLife Australia’s Head of Public Policy has been named one of this year’s winners of the FSC Industry Excellence Award.

Cathy Duloy, MetLife Head of Public Policy, reflected on the win, saying: “I’m really delighted to be recognised for the contribution that I, and others, have made to the industry in what has been a demanding year. I’m grateful to the FSC for this award and the opportunity to contribute to the debate on how the industry can better serve all Australians. The regulatory environment is challenging for all of us but we have an obligation to advocate on behalf of our customers and that’s what we’ve focused on this year.”

The Financial Services Council (FSC) recognised financial services individuals for their sustained professional support for and leadership of the financial services industry at the 2019 Finanical Services Council Summit.

Cathy has led MetLife’s Public Policy agenda since 2017, and has been an active leader in the life insurance industry for more than two decades. As well as having been a long-term active participant with the FSC, in the last 12 months, Cathy has played an integral role in several working groups and committees, including the Life Code of Practice Working Group, the Life Regulatory Affairs Working Group and the Mental Health Working Group, among others.

Through this work, Cathy has played a pivotal role in shaping key outcomes for the industry, including rallying support from the FSC around  the Productivity Commission on mental health, demonstrating industry leadership in response to the Government introduced Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Power Legislation, helping support and promote the need for quality data within the life insurance industry and has been deeply involved with the FSC’s work on early intervention. In addition, she has helped MetLife and its clients understand and navigate the complex and changing regulatory environment, especially regarding the Protecting Your Super legislation.

Cathy was among eight winners who were recognised at an event held in Sydney on 27 August. This is the second time Cathy has been recogised by the FSC, having previously won the Award in 2012.
