MetLife Australia awarded Best Insurer in 2020 Super Fund of the Year Awards

MetLife Australia has won Best Insurer in the 2020 Super Fund of the Year Awards. The prestigious 7th annual awards aim to spotlight best practice in the superannuation industry and recognise organisations at the forefront of improving retirement income solutions and products.

MetLife took out the Best Insurer gong, announced this afternoon at a virtual awards ceremony, beating out competition from five other insurers.

MetLife CEO Richard Nunn said: “We’re delighted and humbled to have won the Best Insurer Award in the Super Fund of the Year Awards.”

“It’s been a challenging year for everyone and winning this award is a testament to the relentless energy, commitment and passion of our staff as we strive to be the most caring and easiest to deal with life insurer in Australia.”

The judging, managed by The Heron Partnership, an independent actuarial and superannuation consultancy, noted MetLife’s focus on customer wellbeing.

“Congratulations to MetLife for winning this award,” said Chris Butler, Managing Partner of The Heron Partnership. “In choosing MetLife as the winner, what stood out for us was their focus on the customer at every stage of the process. During COVID, they demonstrated care for customers in their extensive response to the impact of this pandemic on clients and their members.

“MetLife’s new health and wellbeing offering – 360Health – is directed at defending members against serious illnesses by providing thought leadership, health literacy, and prevention and early detection.  It also focuses on supporting the customer and ensuring their return to health.”

Mr Nunn noted: “MetLife continues to put our customers at the forefront as we innovate in our product offerings and mature our health offering. With over a 150 years of life insurance experience, global reach across 40 countries, MetLife strives to be there for our customers so they can build a more confident future.”

MetLife congratulates all the winners and finalists in the awards.

MetLife covers over 1.7 million lives in Australia and paid over $504m in claims to policy holders in 2019.
