MetLife Joins DCA’s #IStandForRespect Campaign

MetLife Australia has joined the Diversity Council Australia (DCA) campaign #IStandForRespect, pledging alongside other leading organisations to make Australian workplaces respectful and safe for everyone.
Having recently become a DCA member, MetLife has committed to stand against gendered harassment and violence in all its forms, and to take steps to address sexual and sex-based harassment in the workplace.
Richard Nunn, MetLife Australia’s CEO, commenting on the campaign, said: “We believe not just in diversity but also in inclusion – we know that we must create a workplace where all voices are heard, respected and valued. We know this is an important part of being a workplace where people can bring their whole selves to work, and thrive and succeed at MetLife. That’s why we’ve joined DCA as a member and pledged our support to this campaign.”
DCA’s research shows that there are still barriers for women succeeding in the workplace, with culturally diverse women facing structural barriers accessing leadership and still subject to harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Women who are LGBTIQ+ experience sexual harassment if they come out at work and older women are overlooked for promotion, retiring with half the savings of men.
DCA is calling on all member organisations to take the pledge, so together corporate organisations can help lead change for women in Australia. Lisa Annese, DCA’s CEO, commenting on the campaign said: “We are calling for these things not only because respectful workplaces, free of harassment and violence, are critical for business success and the productivity of the Australian economy – but because it is simply the right thing to do.”
Other organisations are invited to join the campaign by taking the #IStandForRespect pledge.
