MetLife shortlisted for two UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards

MetLife Australia has been shortlisted in two categories for the UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs (Women’s Empowerment Principles) Awards 2021 - Gender-Inclusive Workplace Award and Transparency and Reporting Award.
The UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards are the first regional awards recognising companies taking action for gender equality aligned to the WEPs, a set of Principles providing guidance to businesses on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.

Since signing the UN WEPs, we’ve worked hard to create a gender inclusive workplace driven by data and insights to inform our strategies. Being shortlisted reflects the work we’ve done to empower women and create an inclusive workplace where people can thrive. We’ve made significant progress but know there is still more to be done.”
In March 2020, MetLife was the first US-based insurance company to sign the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. MetLife Australia also signed the Principles at that time.
The UN WEPs Awards Gender-Inclusive Workplace Award recognises corporations demonstrating gender-inclusive measures in the workplace, and the Transparency and Reporting Award recognises commitment to transparency and reporting of gender data.
The winners and runners up will be announced on 9 November with a virtual event being held on 18 November 2021.
MetLife was also recently shortlisted for the 2021 ANZIIF Awards Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award (winners to be announced on 26 October 2021) and the SEEK Talent Acquisition Recognition (STAR) Awards for Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative (winners announced in February 2022).
