Sydney, 14 May 2025 – MetLife Australia is proud to announce the 3-year renewal of its partnership with Botanic Gardens of Sydney. Biodiversity is core to enabling our environment to thrive, and this renewed collaboration underscores MetLife's purpose to build a more confident future for all through our commitment to ensuring the sustainability of our environment for future generations.

As part of this partnership, MetLife Australia will support the Rainforest Seed Conservation Project, a critical research initiative focused on preserving rainforest seeds and addressing the impacts of climate change. This project is led by the Australian Institute of Botanical Science, the premier botanical research institute in Australia, and includes education, science, conservation, and the collections of Botanic Gardens of Sydney.

Botanic Gardens of Sydney is dedicated to protecting plants and offering solutions to critical environmental challenges. MetLife is also committed to supporting efforts to address the impact of climate change on biodiversity, given the impact to local and global communities. Increased natural disasters and ongoing climate change are two critical factors impacting the life insurance industry as more customers are directly and indirectly affected.

We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Botanic Gardens of Sydney. This partnership allows us to contribute to vital conservation efforts and support groundbreaking research that addresses the challenges posed by climate change. It brings to life our commitment to building a more confident future for our communities and the environment.

Head of Australian PlantBank Dr Cathy Offord, who leads the Rainforest Seed Conservation Project, said MetLife’s partnership supports critical conservation work.

Australian rainforest plants are under threat from habitat fragmentation, weeds, disease and climate change. By investigating seed storability and developing preservation methods, our program is vital for protecting and preserving Australia’s fragile and important rainforest ecosystems for future generations.
