Robo-advice is a cheaper alternative but lacks personalization. A competent adviser should keep you well-informed and help you manage financial risks.

It is important to do your research 

Always do your due diligence by checking a potential adviser's credentials on the Financial Adviser Register to ensure they are authorised to provide personal advice in relation to relevant financial products to the public.
