MetLife now offers a safe and convenient way to access health care advice at home via its 360Health Virtual Care program, in partnership with Teladoc Health. Mark Raberger, Head of Health at MetLife Australia, explains how it works.

What does 360Health Virtual Care offer MetLife members that's different from a consultation with a local GP?

Local GPs do incredible work helping people in their communities, and they're often the first point of contact when you're looking for health care advice.

That said, we know many of our members are interested in getting expert advice from a broader range of practitioners that might be available in their local areas.

We also know some members find it challenging to attend in-person consultations with a GP, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the positives from this time is that more and more people are comfortable with accessing virtual health care consultations. The benefits of virtual consultations include:

  • No need to travel to meet with health care experts;
  • Access to more experts around the country (and safer than 'Dr Google');
  • Convenient phone and online video consultations;
  • Secure and accurate health care records shared between your GP and relevant health care professionals to ensure everyone looking after you has the right information.

MetLife's Virtual Care is a personalised, comprehensive and integrated health care program with virtual consultations supported by our partner, Teladoc Health.

Our program enables eligible customers and their immediate family to access virtual care for mental and physical health issues, as well as nutrition consultations, from the comfort of their own home with a confidential and best-practice experience.

What happens when I ask for help through Virtual Care?

You'll connect with one of the Teladoc Health clinicians who'll talk with you about your health concerns first. They'll ask you to sign a consent form so your medical information can be securely shared, and, if you consent, they can connect with your doctor. The clinician will then identify the right combination of services for you – and be there to guide and support you every step of the way.

What are some of the expert services available through Virtual Care?

Virtual Care includes a range of services designed to help you get the right answers and help for your medical concerns, including:

  • Mental Health Assistan in-depth review of your mental health by a team of leading experts in Australia, followed by ongoing support from a mental health nurse.
  • Second Medical Opinion – a detailed review of your physical condition by global experts to help you understand your diagnosis, learn more about suitable treatment options, and choose treatment and recovery options.
  • GP Online – a convenient and confidential way to discuss your medical questions with a GP in Australia without needing to leave home. You can connect with a GP via phone or video.
  • Nutrition Consultation – a detailed consultation with a qualified dietician about your food preferences, nutrition and general wellbeing. You'll receive a personalised nutrition plan.
