METLIFE FOUNDATION GRANTS
Financial Basics Community Foundation (FBCF) is excited to announce it has received a $110,000USD grant from MetLife Foundation. The grant will be used to develop and deliver the Financial Literacy Life Skills Resources Project—a targeted financial literacy initiative aimed at supporting young Australians with low literacy and numeracy skills.
The Financial Literacy Life Skills Resources Project will be a comprehensive resource package designed to help youth build essential financial literacy skills, improve financial resilience, and support long-term wellbeing. The resources will promote positive financial behaviours and equip young people with the confidence to manage their personal finances effectively.
FBCF operates under the umbrella of the Financial Basics Foundation (FBF), a not-for-profit organisation established in 2009. The Financial Literacy Life Skills Resources Project will adapt FBF’s existing financial education materials, tailoring them specifically for schools and/or community organisations that support youth who can benefit from this initiative.
FBCF’s purpose is to empower young Australians to take control of their financial futures. This project directly supports that mission by offering practical, accessible tools to help youth make informed financial choices and grow in confidence.
MetLife Foundation is focused on driving inclusive economic mobility by addressing the needs of people on low-income around the world. This initiative aligns with MetLife Foundation’s commitment to improving financial health and promoting equitable access to financial knowledge.
The Financial Literacy Life Skills Resources Project will begin with a pilot phase to test and refine educational materials to ensure they effectively support young people with low literacy and numeracy. At the same time, FBCF will work closely with educators and community workers to ensure the resources are practical, impactful, and easy to implement across diverse learning environments.
The full project launched in May 2025.
