How long have you been at MetLife?

Since September 2019.

What is your role at MetLife?

I’m the Head of Advice Strategy at MetLife Australia.  My role is wide and varied, and on any given day, I could be:

  • Running face-to-face or online sessions to support our advisers.
  • Providing technical or educational support – largely around superannuation, taxation, and life insurance.
  • Overseeing MetLife Campus
  • Representing MetLife on a number of CALI committees.
  • Assisting our External Affairs and Public Policy team with submissions to government and statutory agencies.
  • Working closely with our Product team on product enhancements and developments.
  • Promoting MetLife.

Your team has been leading the development of the MetLife Campus. Tell us more about it.

We officially launched the MetLife Campus in November 2022, and it has since been growing from strength to strength. We are continually dropping new content, known as modules, which advisers can complete in their own time to gain CPD hours. The modules cover all the CPD learning areas and our vision is to have enough modules in each learning area so advisers can meet their minimum requirements in one simple, easy to access location – and for free. We are on track to achieve this by the end of this year, if not earlier. There are 38 new modules being dropped between April to June alone.

What is your favourite feature of MetLife Protect?

There are so many great features, it’s hard to choose one. Instead, I’m going to let you know my favourite feature for each type of cover MetLife Protect offers:

  • Life Cover: Specified Events Option. This is unique to MetLife and provides a benefit payment (in addition to any benefit payments available under Life Cover) if an insured person suffers from a Specified Event as a result of an accident.
  • TPD Cover: Super Linked Own Occupation with MetLife Protect Super. This covers an insured person’s permanent inability to ever work again in their Own Occupation, trade or profession solely due to Injury or Illness.
  • Trauma Cover: MetLife’s unique Trauma Cover Reinstatement Option ensures continuous cover after multiple benefit payments – up to six times the Trauma Cover Amount for multiple claims across each Trauma Category for the life of the Policy.
  • Income Cover: Your clients don’t have to be totally disabled during the waiting period to qualify for a benefit. And for MetLife Protect Super, we offer complimentary cover outside superannuation.

What’s a fun fact about yourself or something most people wouldn’t know about you?

I can do better and provide two fun facts:

  1. My first job was as a house painter working for my dad.
  2. My mum comes from seven generations of dairy farmers… while I’m lactose intolerant!
