MEDIA RELEASE
Sydney, 21 May 2025 – Designed to support customers and their families through the stages and challenges of perimenopause and menopause, MetLife Australia’s Menopause Support is improving workforce confidence and financial outcomes for customers. The service helps customers to stay connected at work, personally and professionally, and build a more confident future.
MetLife’s research reveals that 1 in 3 women are financially worse off due to menopause affecting their career, employment and earning capacity1.
Delving deeper, MetLife estimates that on average, Australian women collectively have lost $1.5bn in earnings per year from time off work. This results in up to $40k less in their superannuation account at the time of retirement, further exacerbating the retirement savings gender gap.
Part of MetLife’s 360Health program, the Menopause Support service provides fast and easy access to digital consultations with specialist nurses on topics such as symptom management and how to access appropriate medical help. The service is available to all MetLife customers and their family, including those seeking support for their partners.
An overwhelming 77% of customers who have used the service say that the program has significantly helped with symptom management, enabling them to stay in the workforce and have healthy relationships with loved ones.
Commenting on the benefits of the Menopause Support, MetLife Australia Chief Customer & Marketing Officer Lina Saliba has said the following.

About the research
MetLife surveyed 1,058 women and non-binary individuals, aged between 35 to 64 years, who were either experiencing perimenopause or had reached menopause, to understand how menopause is impacting their mental, physical and financial health. The research, conducted in September 2024, was one of the largest studies undertaken by an Australian life insurer on those experiencing menopause. MetLife conducted in-depth online research in collaboration with independent research partner, Zylo Group.
