How long have you been at MetLife?

Since December 2019.

What can WA advisers always count on you for?

To put the customer first, be available and authentic, and most importantly, to do what I say I’m going to do.

What is your favourite MetLife Protect feature?

Our Trauma Reinstatement, it’s a great feature!

It was International Women’s Day on 8 March. This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity. Why is financial equity for women so important and how can financial advisers help?

Financial equity for women is important because aside from the gender pay gap, there’s a staggering 47% superannuation gap between working men and women, with a study1 finding that women would need to work an extra 15 years to retire with as much superannuation as men. For women to close the gap, it’s vital that they are financially literate and take charge of their financial future – and getting good advice from a financial adviser plays a crucial role.

Only 22.5% of financial advisers in Australia are women, do you have any advice to encourage more women to join the industry?

The opportunities are endless!

The financial services industry is full of incredible career path choices, so my advice would be to do the study, then explore different fields such as Financial Planning, Stockbroking, Funds Management or Life Insurance to learn more and find out what you enjoy most. An internship or contract work is also a great way to do this.

Fabulous advice Dianna. Can you tell us more about your own career path journey?

I’m testament that the Financial Services industry offers an endless array of opportunities. I fell into Financial Services after finishing a year of business college and got the first job I interviewed for at a General Insurance Brokerage. This was the start of my Financial Services journey and from there, I’ve worked in Life Insurance, Financial Planning, Equities Trading and I even spent a few years as an Investor Relations Manager for two listed companies. Like I said, there are so many areas to explore within the industry, the choice is truly yours.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I grew up on a farm in the Western Australian Wheatbelt.
